As the gas molecules move toward the outlet, they collide with other molecules in their path, gradually decreasing their pressure and creating a vacuum.
The diffusion pump effectively eliminates gas molecules from a chamber by continuously pushing them out with the fast-moving vapor molecules. It can achieve vacuum levels as low as 10^-9 millibar, making it suitable for high-vacuum applications such as in electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, and semiconductor fabrication.
Due to their high pumping speed and ability to reach extremely low pressure ranges, diffusion pumps are widely favored in applications requiring a clean and high vacuum environment.
