The Hemionus genus animals are herbivorous grazers, typically feeding on grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation found within their habitats. They have evolved to withstand the harsh environments of their natural habitats, showcasing adaptability to extreme temperatures, to both hot and cold climates. These equids also exhibit social behavior, forming herds that may consist of several individuals, although they can also be solitary when necessary.
